The wedding of Pia & Abel was in Chinchón, a place where I had never been. This wedding happens in a way that if a friend tells you, you think, I hope it happens to me, or at least I would think so, until it happened… I remember they called me from Germany to ask me when I would have a free day in my agenda because that day would be the day they would marry… so is Pia. When she came to Spain to meet me and find some stuff for the wedding, and said to me live, I could not help crying of emotion. It is not by crying and thinking that I am cool; I am a fashion photographer, no. Is about having your work recognized, is about to be treated as the artists we are, responsable for portraying moments. It seems that we live in a country where we are ashamed of describing ourserves as artists, and I believe that his entire life a photographer has been an artist, if I remember correctly. But in this country we thank that increasingly less, the wedding photographer is that, a person who takes photos with a decent camera but that can do whatever he wants. And it doesn’t work like that, many of us love our work or we are professional, that doesn’t make us better or worse than other types of photographers, plumbers or teachers. And all the couples I have from abroad value the work in a different way. I cry out for joy because, increasingly are the grooms that I feel that value my way of seeing the picture and hire me because they want to be me, and not someone else to tell their story. And that is magical, like when it happens to a partner. Because when they leave us free to work we can give our best, just like in any other profession.
PIA & ABEL, thank you for let me be me in every moment and trust in me.
Love is when you do not breathe, when it is absurd, when you miss, when it is nice even if it is out of tune, when it’s madness… when just the thought of seeing him with another would make you cross the ocean by swimming. Federico Moicca.
